Brian Robert Grindey

Brian Robert Grindey, 58, son of Carol Hornbrook and Bob Grindey (Gayle) passed away on August 11, 2021. He was born in, Juliet, Illinois on December 5, 1962, and three months later, Brian, his parents, and four siblings moved to Florida. After graduating from Leto High School, Tampa, in 1980 Brian, served four years in the US Army 1st Infantry division as a tank driver.  After being Honorably discharged in 1984, Brian moved back to Tampa where he became a boat captain and SCUBA instructor; and met his beloved wife, best friend, and soul mate of 32 years, Beth Grindey. Together they purchased Mac’s Sports Scuba in 1998 and raised 5 children in Tarpon Springs. An avid fisherman and diver, Brian loved spending time with his family and friends, going on the boat or just relaxing at his house.  A larger than life human, Brian was known for his infectious laugh and love for life.  Never afraid to help someone in need, he was a doer who loved to spend his free time reading Fenelon and his bible and growing and striving to be closer to God everyday.  Brian is survived by his parents, Carol Hornbrook and Bob Grindey (Gayle); wife, Beth Grindey, five children, Lauren Roberts (Jesse), Will Grindey (Meroula), James Grindey, Mikey Grindey, Sara Grindey; one grandson, Gaines Roberts; four siblings, Eve Overby, Faith Donohue (Jeff), Joann Grindey, Jimmy Grindey (Ann); nephews and nieces, Amber, Jessie, Ford, Hannah, Colin, Malia, Celina. A memorial service will take place at 3:30, October 16, at the Lakeview Community Church, 475 East Lake Road North, Tarpon Springs.
