Cecelia Matthews Stamas, 96, a resident of Tarpon Springs for 65 years, passed away on December 30, 2019. She was born in Hartford CT but moved to Clearwater in 1949 after her marriage to Nicholas George Stamas, one of the founders of Stamas Yacht in Tarpon Springs. Nicholas and Cecelia built a home in Tarpon Springs in 1954 and lived there their entire lives. She was a homemaker all of her life, involved in many volunteer opportunities including a Bible/Sunday school teacher to teenagers at St. Nicholas Cathedral. She was very creative and had a great passion for painting. Her home's walls are adorned with her paintings which will be cherished by her family. She is survived by her three sons, 2 daughters-in-law, 6 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren with another on the way. Services are to be held on Saturday, January 4 at St. Nicholas Cathedral with visitation at 11am and a funeral service at noon. Interment will take place at Cycadia Cemetery. Vinson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
