It is with sadness that we announce the loss of beloved mother, yiayia, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend, Charlyn Grace Paskalakis who entered into eternal life on October 2nd, 2021, in Tarpon Springs, Florida.
A small-town girl from the start, Charlyn was born and raised in Scio, Ohio and made her home here in Tarpon for the last fifty-two years. She raised six children in a loving home where all were welcome; family, friends, and neighbors were included in the warm, all-encompassing embrace of “CK” and her cherished husband, Billy. There was always room at the table for whomever might be in our company at any given time, and in addition to sharing her considerable culinary talents, she dispensed both wit and wisdom in equal measure. She was jokingly (and lovingly) referred to as the ‘Kool-Aid Queen’ of the block, and all the kids knew it was the place they could come to for refreshment, shelter, advice, help with homework, or even dance lessons before prom – it was always a full house. Her boisterous clan was rounded out with the nieces, nephews, and cousins for whom she held such adoration and affection.
It is with love and gratitude that we acknowledge the many wonderful friends in Charlyn’s life who came to be known simply as ‘family.’ She will be missed by those whose lives she touched in myriad ways over the years and who, in turn, blessed hers with the gifts of their friendship, humor, and love.
Charlyn leaves us to be joyfully reunited with those loved ones who have gone before – among them are her beloved husband, Billy, her parents, Oliver and Berdine, her brother, Gavin, niece, Kristen, and son-in-law, Mike McGee. She lives on in the hearts and memories of the family and friends whom she leaves behind, including her children: Elaine Sarris (Michael), Dayna Karaphillis (Theo), Todd Paskalakis, Flora Stoltz (Scott), Anastasia McGee, and Tina Kritsepis (Terry), her grandchildren: Nicholas Souder, Rhett Linton, Hayden McGee, and Marcus and Leah Paskalakis, her brother: Marvin Grace (Debbie), and the nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who added color to her world and love to her life.
Services will be held on Wednesday, October 6th, 2021, at St. Nicholas Cathedral, 36 North Pinellas Avenue, Tarpon Springs, FL 34689. Visitation will begin at noon with the funeral immediately following at one o’clock. A graveside service and interment will take place at Cycadia Cemetery on East Tarpon Avenue.
We are so very grateful for the exemplary care that mom received from the remarkable staff in the Advent North Pinellas CCU. They tended to her (and us) for several weeks with the utmost skill, kindness, and compassion and, in the end, became the loving midwives who birthed her soul into heaven. In honor of mom, we would like to pay it forward by giving in her name to a fund that directly assists our local Healthcare Heroes in need.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the AdventHealth North Pinellas Foundation C.A.R.E.S. Fund, Attn: Sofia Zaronias, administrator, 1395 South Pinellas Avenue, Tarpon Springs, FL 34689.
Many thanks to the staff at Vinson Funeral Home not only for the arrangements, but for their kindness, caring, and support.
