David Lee Gehri

David Gehri, 69, of Tampa Fl, passed away on December 25, 2024 after a  battle with having strokes.   David was born on date 09/21/1955 to Virgil Gehri and Rosemary Bauer (Gehri)] in Reedsburg, WI. After graduating from Wonewoc High School in 1973,  He went on to pursue a career as a Jockey.  David always had horses and was a horse whisperer as he could get any horse to do whatever he wanted them to do.  David married his high school sweetheart Rebecca Huebel.  Becky went with David to many horse tracks across the US so David could pursue his career as a Professional Jockey.  Later, David went on his own to continue his career as a Jockey.  He was an exceptional Jockey and athlete. He made a great living from his passion of riding horses and being with horses.  David not only rode the horses in races, he would exercises them in the mornings.  David rode for a very successful Owner and Trainer Kathleen O'Connell.  (KO).  David was predeceased by his Father, Virgil Gehri of Wonewoc, WI and Rosemary Bauer of Mauston, WI and his beloved Dog-Crockett.  He is survived by his Step Mother, Vera Gehri,  Brother Allan Gehri,  Wife Jenny Gehri , Sister-Kathy (Gehri) Galvez, Husband Timothy,  Danny Gehri and wife- Kristin Gehri and Calvin Gehri and wife-Sarah Gehri.  Many Nieces and Nephews.  David was larger than life and had a personality that was also larger than life.  David was the most loving person and had the biggest heart of anyone I have ever met. David was cared for by his best friend’s John and Clay during his last few years. Funeral service at 11:00, on Monday, December 30, 2024 at Michels and Lundquist Chapel, 5228 Trouble Creek Road, New Port Richey. Interment will follow at Midway Cemetery in Palm Harbor.
