Dorothy King Obituary

Dorothy Jean (Tindol) King, 73, of Tarpon Springs, passed away on, March 14, 2022.  She is survived by her loving husband, Wesley G. King; daughter, Brenda King Crosby; grandson, Cannon Crosby; sister, Patricia Phillips Waterman; and many nephews and nieces.  She was preceded in death by her parents, James C. and Edith Inez (Reynolds) Tindol; her son, Bryon A. King; and son in law, Wally Crosby. Dorothy was born on, March 12, 1949, at Morton Plant Hospital in Clearwater.  She graduated from Largo High School and moved to Tarpon Springs.  She worked at Tarpon Zoo, Cycle Springs Yamaha, helped Wes run and operate their “13 Safford Avenue Saloon”, worked at Curlew Country Home, Cardinal Mini Storage and Southeast Personnel Leasing.  The zoo was her absolute favorite place to work.

Dorothy was a devoted wife and was married for 55 years to her teenage sweetheart. She loved her two children, Bryon and Brenda more than words can express, and her grandson Cannon was her entire world. She spent any spare time hanging out with him. She was a thoughtful daughter, loving aunt and sweet Godmother. Dorothy was a friend to many.  She loved the elderly and enjoyed all of her children’s friends.  Through the years she became more and more  passionate about caring for animals, it didn’t matter what kind, she loved them all.  She would sweet talk to a chicken in the same voice as she would a puppy.

Her artistic spirit grew as the years went by.  She stopped buying greeting cards, preferring to create personal ones for all of her family.  These beautiful intricate cards are treasured.  Her time intensive handiwork and exquisite attention to detail is something that will be missed dearly.

Happy memories of long weekends at the Suwannee River, camping in North Carolina, motorcycle races, football games, beach days, cookouts, music and laughter.  She will be so very missed and forever in our hearts.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am, on Saturday, March 26, 2022, at Cycadia Cemetery.  In the event of rain, the service will be held at the Cycadia Mausoleum area.  Please dress comfortable and casual.

Arrangements by Vinson Funeral Home.
