Eleanor Jo Cortessis, a resident of Tarpon Springs, Florida from the age of 3 months, was born in Portsmouth, Ohio on, October 24,1935, and passed away on, January 18, 2024, at the age of 88.
She was a graduate of Tarpon Springs High School, played in the high school band, and was homecoming queen in 1953. She was an original employee of Ellis First National Bank and retired after about 40 years. She loved to travel on cruises with her husband, play bingo, knitting and crocheting and cooking delicious Greek food.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Manuel of 63 years. She is survived by her two children, Kay Koulianos (John) and John E. Cortessis (Elizabeth); four grandchildren, Joanna Koulianos (Nick Emery), Eleni Pappas (Michael Pappas), Manuel Cortessis, and Kalliope Freburg (Nick Freburg); two great grandchildren, Demitra Renee Freburg and Paulina Kay Pappas.
A visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00, with the funeral service at 11:00, all on, Tuesday, January 23, 2024, at St Nicholas Greek Orthodox Cathedral. Interment will follow at Cycadia Cemetery.
