Elissa "Lisa" (Evans) Spenlau

Elissa (Lisa) E. Spenlau, 87, passed away June 15, 2024.  She was born and raised in Richmond, Kentucky and moved to Tarpon Springs, Florida after graduating from Eastern Kentucky University in 1958.

She worked for the Pinellas County School System as an elementary teacher for 30 years, all but 3 years being at San Jose Elementary in Dunedin.  Seeing a student’s face when they learn something new and knowing that she had helped them is what she liked most about her career.  She was a member of the Delta Kappa Gamma Society.

She was very active in The First United Methodist Church of Tarpon Springs.  She sang in the choir, was a member of the United Methodist Women Martha Sisters Circle, was a Vacation Bible School Music Teacher, Bereavement Committee Co-Chair and youth group volunteer.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 61 years, Ronald. She is survived by her three children and their spouses, Melody Williams (Jimmy), Todd Spenlau (Maureen), and Brooke Hughes (Wells).  She was blessed with seven grandchildren, Clint, Kyle, Michaela (DJ), Bailey, Riley, Tripp and Hayden Grace; two great grandchildren, Xander & Davey and many lifetime friends.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 6:00, on Monday, June 24th, at the First United Methodist Church, 501 E. Tarpon Avenue, Tarpon Springs.
