Haines Elmer Sigurdsson, 80, of Tarpon Springs, passed away peacefully at home on May 28, 2024. He was born in English Creek, New Jersey to his parents, Rupert and Mary Sigurdsson, and grew up on a farm outside of Atlantic City. He later traveled the country, sometimes hitchhiking with only a bag and his six-string acoustic guitar on his back. After many adventures, he moved from Maine to Pinellas County, where he settled for the last 20 years of his life. He held many jobs, including as an HVAC technician, but was never defined by his career. He enjoyed karaoke, funny movies, and classic science-fiction and fantasy novels; was an expert campfire builder, acoustic guitarist, and teller of dad jokes; and he doted on his cat Pookie. In 2014, Haines accomplished a life-long dream and self-published several sci-fi novels. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Robin Sigurdsson; and one sister, Barbara Sigurdsson. He is survived by two sons, Michael Deuter and Duncan (Amber) Sigurdsson; two daughters, Erika (Jay) Zabelny and Amanda (Eric) Coffey; adopted step-daughter Breckon (Shawn) Anderson; two sisters, Gwendolyn Watts and Rosanna (Andy) Toth; and numerous grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, step-family, and friends. Haines was a kind, gentle man who was loved and will be missed by many.
