Jackey Angelis, age 58, died on October 24, 2023. He was the son of Angelo Cimos Angelis and Thomaitsa Angelis, and brother of Cimos Angelis, all who preceded Jackey in death.
Jackey was born and raised in his beloved town of Tarpon Springs. Jackey enjoyed a long and distinguished career in law enforcement. He joined the Florida Marine Patrol and subsequently the Florida Wildlife Commission. Jackey recently retired after over thirty years of service.
Jackey was a favorite son of the Tarpon Springs community. As decedent of pioneers in the Tarpon Springs Sponge Diving industry, Jackey’s love for the water was only matched by his love and devotion to his friends and family. Jackey leaves behind his sister, Mary Ann Angelis; niece, Thomaitsa Spanos, Antonis Spanos (husband to Thomaitsa) and nephew, Miros Petru. He also leaves behind many extended family members, Godchildren, devoted lifelong friends, and an entire community that loved and adored him.
His love of the Lord through his Greek Orthodox faith sustained him through his life. “I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me.” – Philippians 4:13. The world was an infinitely brighter place with Jackey Angelis in it. He served others. He brought joy and laughter. He will never be forgotten. May his memory be eternal.
