Kaliope "Kally" George, a lifelong Tarpon Springs, Florida resident, passed away on January 18, 2025 at 95 years of age. She was born on June 20, 1929 into the Lerios and Samarkos families that were an integral part of the early-mid 20th century Greek sponge diving community that helped build Tarpon Springs. In addition to being a wife, mother, sister and daughter, Kally was a small business owner (Charlie’s Lounge and Mrs. G’s Sewing) and faithful member of the St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church. She is survived by her son, Nick and extended family, and is pre-deceased by her husband, Charles “Charlie” George, sister, Angel Chamis, and her parents, Nick and Sevasti Lerios.
A visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 with the funeral service starting at 11:00 all on Wednesday, January 22, 2025 at Saint Nicholas Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 36 N Pinellas Avenue, Tarpon Springs FL 34689. Interment will follow at Cycadia Cemetery, Tarpon Springs, Florida.
