Sister Lula Mae (Murray) Delforimonte

Lula Mae (Murray) Delforimonte, was born July 1, 1928, in Tarpon Springs, FL, to the late Deacon William Murray and Marie Hodge. Lula was the third of seven children to this union. Lula attended Pinellas County Schools before moving to Manhattan, New York where she resided with her aunt Ruth Burrell for several years.
Lula worked as a concierge worker at an Exclusive Hotel, downtown Manhattan for many years before moving to Bronx, New York, where she met and married Latson (Danny) Delforimonte. Lula later became a caregiver for children and adults for many years before losing her devoted husband. Later Lula would move to Newark, New Jersey where she worked at a huge thrift store and also became an avid sales representative for AVON.
In 2003, Lula moved back home to Tarpon Springs, after being gone for 45 years. Lula loved poetry, her favorite poem was, “Heaven’s Grocery Store,” which she regularly recited by heart. Lula was a devoted Christian and became a member of Mt. Hermon Missionary Baptist Church. Lula was the matriarch of the family before transitioning on Easter Sunday.
Lula departed this life on Sunday, April 17, 2022, at Lakeside Oaks in Dunedin, Florida. She was preceded in death by her husband, Latson Delforimonte; brothers, Dock Murray (Florene), Leroy Murray (Marlene), Felix Murray; sisters, Mary (Lease) Owens and Rosalee Murray; aunt, Ruth Burrell and brother-in-law, Willie B. Cason.
Lula leaves to cherish her memories, sister, Mother Pauline Cason; a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins; Devoted friends, Barbara and Freda Wilson, other relatives, and sorrowing friends.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 on Saturday, May 28, at Mount Hermon Missionary Baptist Church.
