Μιχαήλ (Michael) Petros Skourellos, 71, of Tampa, Florida, passed away on August 2, 2022, after a courageous battle with ALS. Originally from Kalymnos, Greece, Michael immigrated to the United States on April 28, 1968, at the young age of 17. He came to this country with only a Greek to English Dictionary and the ambition to pursue the American Dream. He lived for a time in Tarpon Springs, Florida with family members until he was able to purchase a home for his family. Michael met his doting wife, Shirley, in Tarpon Springs in April, 1973. Michael and Shirley were married for 47 years. Together they created a beautiful, loving family and built Michael's painting company, M.P.S. Painting, Inc.
In addition to his loving wife, Shirley; he is survived by two sons, Petros M. Skourellos and Dante M. (Lindsey) Skourellos, and their children, Olivia, Kaliope, & Zoe; two daughters, Nicolette R. (Jeffrey) Snyder, and their children, Ava & Collin, and Michele E. (Michael) Setzer-Torres, and their children, Dorian, Daphne, & Declan.
Michael loved and was proud of the family he cultivated with his wife. He was affectionately and lovingly known as Papou to his eight grandchildren. Michael will be remembered as a spectacular father, husband, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend. Nothing brought Michael more joy and pride than his family. His legacy will live on through his wife, children, and grandchildren.
Michael is also survived by his brother, Mike (Irene) Skourellos; his sister, Maria (Asomatos) Koullias, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins residing in Tarpon Springs, Florida and/or Kalymnos, Greece.
