Nancy Shirey Calkins

Nancy (Shirey) Calkins, 80, of Tarpon Springs, passed away on April 23, 2021. She was born in Hinton, West Virginia, to, William Homer and Alberdeen Elwanda (Sampson) Shirey. Nancy came to Clearwater, Florida in 1957, from Richmond, Virginia, and was a graduate of Clearwater High School in 1958. She was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church, an avid reader and artist. She was preceded in death by one son, William "Chuck" Charles Calkins, Jr. and one brother, David Raymond Shirey. She is survived by one daughter, Constance Calkins (Steven) Bennett, of Tarpon Springs; one son, Christopher David (Kelley) Calkins, of New Port Richey; one sister, Suzanne Shirey (Hoyt) Tidwell; one sister in law, Velma Shirey; seven grandchildren, Erica Calkins, Denise Backes, Meghan Calkins, Stephen (Laura) Watrous, Steven Bennett, Jeffrey (Ciara) Bennett, Michael Bennett; five great grandchildren, Michael Condento, William Backes, Nikolas Backes, Tyler Watrous, Jacob Watrous. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Suncoast Hospice. A memorial service will be held at 4:00 pm, on Saturday, May 1, at the Michels and Lundquist Funeral Home. Vinson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
