Mrs. Ruby Jean Malcom
April 17, 1952 ~ August 1, 2024
Ruby Jean Brooks Malcom was born in Plant City, Florida to the late Clarence Brooks, Sr. and Margaret Mathis Culmer. Ruby attended Pinellas County public schools. Ruby later moved to Tarpon Springs, where she met and married the love of her life Joe Malcom. They were blessed with a son, Joe Malcom, Jr. In addition, Joe and Ruby also loved and raised as their own, her nephew, Dwayne Nash and niece, Epiphany Ray. Ruby worked as a supervisor at Acme Sponge until her retirement. Ruby was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends and she was also an avid Buc’s fan. Ruby accepted the Lord and was a faithful member of Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church where she served faithfully on the usher board.
Ruby departed this life on Thursday, August 1,2024 at Suncoast Hospice Care Center North Pinellas. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Malcom, Sr., parents, Clarence Brooks, Sr. and Margaret Culmer, stepfather, James I. Culmer and sister, Delinda Ray. Ruby leaves to cherish her precious memories, her sons, Joe Malcom, Jr. of Tarpon Springs and Dwayne (Pam) Nash of Port Richey; daughter, Epiphany Ray of Port Richey; grandchildren, Jo’Necia, Jo’Marion, Za’Quan, King Zion, Ciarah, Atara Rose, Braylen and Quincia (Italy); sister-in-law, Louise Rue; sisters, Affelda Baldwin, Regina Mathis, Tracy Jerrido, and Gwen Brooks (John) Woods; brothers-in-law, Clarence (Gail) Brooks, Jr., Charles Brooks, Arnold (PoRoe) Brooks and Clarence Brown; God sister, Karen Brown Platt; special friends, Pamela Cason Bell and Charles Driver; God children, Kimberly Drayton, Savannah Bass, Carmella Gamble, Donna Harris and Malcom James; devoted niece and nephew, Regina (CoCo) Mathis and Major Taurean Mathis and a host of additional nieces, nephews, cousins and sorrowing friends.
A visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00, on Friday, August 9 at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church. The funeral service will be held at 11:00, on Saturday, August 10 at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church. Interment will take place at 11:30, on Tuesday, August 13 at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, Florida.
