Sheryll "Shoi" Caballes Obituary

Sheryll Grace “Shoi” Delfin Caballes, 46, of Tarpon Springs, went to be with her Heavenly Father on, December 22, 2021. She was born in, Cebu City, Philippines on, September 29, 1975, to her parents, Gregorio and Shirley Delfin. Shoi and her husband, Germel Caballes, were married on, October 28, 1993 and were blessed with five beautiful children during their 28 years together - Symone (27), Seth (23), Shermaine (20), Savannah (14), and Sebastian (11). She earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Velez College in Cebu City in 1997, before moving to the United States with her family in 2005. Shoi was an active and beloved member of the community, as a parishioner of St. Ignatius of Antioch in Tarpon Springs, through her support of the high school and collegiate athletics programs for her children, and her loving and joyful involvement in the lives of her neighbors, family, co-workers, and friends. She expressed her passion for giving through her work at St. Joseph’s Hospital as a Registered Nurse in the Pre-Operative Unit. She is remembered by her co-workers for her endless optimism, her work ethic, and her profound sense of empathy for her patients. Patient comfort and quality of care were the focal points of her work, and a reflection of her nurturing nature. Above all things, Shoi valued time spent together with her family, and strived to instill that same appreciation in her children. She would often use her personal leave to spend time with them, whether it was going on coffee dates with Symone, watching some of her favorite movies with Sebastian, or shopping with her daughters, Shermaine and Savannah. Shoi would make time for every member of her family. She would regularly make trips to visit her oldest son Seth, in Georgia, if only to just have lunch for the day, or go to spin class in Dunedin with her husband, Germel, and take naps with her one-year-old Havanese, Teddy. Her love for her family was boundless, and Shoi expressed this love each and every day. Shoi also found happiness in the pursuit of her two favorite pastimes: crafting and travel. Even in these pursuits, her generosity and selflessness would abound; despite her fear of heights, she would plan trips to the mountains with her family and would frequently give homemade gifts with her Cricut. Shoi will be remembered as a bright light in all of lives that she touched, and she touched a great many lives. She was a source of comfort, happiness, encouragement, and support to a family and to a community. Quick to smile, to laugh, to remember a birthday or anniversary, and never missed an opportunity to share her warmth with those around her. Shoi is survived by her husband, five loving children; her mother, Shirley; her brother, Janice Ian; and her sister, Sarah. She was preceded in death by her father, Gregorio. She will be missed but will forever live in our hearts.

A Memorial Mass will be held at 5:00 pm, on, Thursday, the 30th day of December 2021 at St. Ignatius of Antioch Catholic Church, in Tarpon Springs, FL.
