Stel Bouchlas, age 80, went to be with the Lord on May 5, 2025.
Stel is survived by his loving family, his brother, Deno Bouchlas; his uncle, William (Leoni) Nelsen; cousins, Nikki Mandas Christu, Magdaline(Davis) Barlow, Georgia (Demo) Beys and Evelyn Bouchlas.
Stel is predeceased by his parents, George and Bessie (Peperis) Bouchlas; aunts, Nena Peperis, Leoni (Peperis) Nelsen, Zula Peperis; uncles, Mike Bouchlas and Soterios (Katina) Bouchlas; great uncle, Leondros (Crystale) Mandas; grandparents, Costas and Magdaline (Mandas) Peperis, and Stelios and Catherine Bouchlas.
Stel was a graduate of Tarpon Springs High School, class of 1962, where he was a member of the track team and band. He obtained an Associates Degree from St. Petersburg Junior College and transferred to The University of Florida where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry in 1967. He was a proud Florida Gator where he was also a member of Sigma Nu fraternity.
Stel was also a very proud veteran and served honorably in the United States Air Force from 1967 to 1971. After discharge from the service, he was employed at the Center for Disease Control in Atlanta, Georgia as a chemist. After retirement, Stel moved back to Tarpon Springs. He had a passion for reading and studying the bible daily. He also loved to play chess.
Stel was a kind, gentle and loving man who had a beautiful upbringing in Tarpon Springs. His friends who grew up with him were more like brothers and sisters and he thought of them lovingly up to his final days in this life. He was a beautiful and faithful Christian man who loved the Lord with all of his heart, mind and soul.
A visitation will be held from 11:00 to 12:00, with the funeral services starting at 12:00, all on Thursday, May 8, 2025 at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Cathedral. Interment to follow at Cycadia Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Cathedral.
