Dr. Susanne Strickland, 86, of Tarpon Springs, passed away on Wednesday, February 21, 2024, from the after effects of a stroke while residing at Suncoast Hospice in Palm Harbor.
Susanne was born in New York, New York to John and Susan Fischer and attended high school and college there, eventually graduating with a doctoral degree in Education from Florida State University. She taught math at both high school and college level before eventually working for the Florida State Legislature and later as the Director of Institutional Research at St. Petersburg College.
In 2001, she married Lawrence Strickland and they resided in Tarpon Springs where she was the beloved mother of more than twelve cats over their 22 year marriage. She is survived by her husband and three beautiful cats.
In lieu of flowers, please donate in her name to Meow Now, an organization that supports homeless and feral cats, which was a cause she was also dedicated.
A viewing will be held from 10:00 to 11:00, followed by a service at 11:00, all on Wednesday, March 6, held at the First United Methodist Church, 501 East Tarpon Avenue, Tarpon Springs. Interment will follow at Cycadia Cemetery in Tarpon Springs.
